Project Details.

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) focused on the economic development of Gilgit Baltistan through increased production and use of clean energy in a financially sustainable way by investing in run-of-the-river hydropower subprojects. ADB facilitated the Government of Pakistan (GOP) in the process of preparing a proposal under the third tranche of the Renewable Energy Development Sector Investment Program (REDSIP) for the development of hydropower projects (HPP) in Gilgit Baltistan (GB) on the Kachera Lunga stream in Staqchan Skardu District and on Thak Nullah in Diamer District. Under tranche III, in addition to electrification, the proposed program was also expected to contribute towards improved health and drinking water supply facilities in the selected communities of the targeted districts. The main purpose of the study was to ascertain a holistic picture of the socio-economic status of the targeted area and to provide a base for midterm and final evaluation of the project to assess the long-term expected impact of two hydroelectric projects started in Chilas and Skardu districts. 

HIMAT Consulting held a meeting with ADB and extract key findings from the review. HCPL drafted the inception report and finalized it as per the feedback of the ADB team. HIMAT Consulting developed data collection tools, including questionnaires and surveys. HIMAT Consulting held a data collection team and hold training. HIMAT Consulting conducted interviews and surveyed potential participants and stakeholders. HIMAT Consulting held data quality assurance by visiting the field while collecting primary data. HIMAT Consulting drafted, clean, filter, and analyze data using MS Excel. HIMAT Consulting analyzed of the data and present the findings to ADB. HIMAT Consulting drafted the end of the project report and finalized it based on the feedback of ADB.
