Project Title:

Development & Testing of Social Accountability Framework for "Improved Access to Fair, Legitimate and Effective Justice in Pakistan" Governance Program in Sindh, Punjab, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

The Social Accountability Framework is a pivotal initiative under the Oxfam GB Governance Program aimed at enhancing transparency, accountability, and citizen participation in governance processes in the provinces of Sindh, Punjab, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP).

This framework was designed to empower communities by strengthening their capacity to hold public officials and institutions accountable, ensuring that governance is responsive, inclusive, and effective.

  • Capacity Building: Training community members, civil society organizations (CSOs), and local authorities on social accountability tools and practices.

  • Citizen Engagement: Facilitating platforms for dialogue between citizens and government officials to discuss governance issues and service delivery.

  • Monitoring and Evaluation: Implementing mechanisms for regular monitoring and evaluation of public services and governance processes.

  • Awareness Campaigns: Conducting awareness campaigns to educate citizens about their rights and the importance of accountability in governance.

  • Feedback Systems: Establishing and strengthening feedback systems, such as community scorecards and public hearings, to ensure citizen voices are heard and acted upon. Empowered Communities: Communities are more knowledgeable about their rights and more capable of demanding accountability from their leaders.

  • Active Citizen-Government Dialogue: Established regular and constructive dialogue between citizens and government officials, leading to more responsive governance.

  • Operational Feedback Systems: Successfully implemented feedback systems that provide continuous monitoring and evaluation of public services.

  • Visible Governance Improvements: Notable improvements in the transparency and effectiveness of governance processes in Sindh, Punjab, and KP.

  • Sustainable Impact: A sustainable framework that continues to foster social accountability and good governance beyond the project lifecycle.

The Social Accountability Framework is a critical component of Oxfam GB's commitment to fostering inclusive, transparent, and effective governance in Pakistan, ensuring that public institutions serve the needs of all citizens.
