Value for Money Analysis under "Thrive Project" (Tajikistan)
The Thrive Tajikistan: Partnership for Socio-Economic Development program is a comprehensive initiative aimed at fostering socio-economic development in the 16 border districts of Tajikistan. Running from 2018 to 2023, this USD 20 million program is a collaborative effort between the Aga Khan Foundation (AKF) and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).
The program's multifaceted approach addresses critical areas such as water access, sanitation, healthcare, energy, agriculture, education, early childhood development, economic growth, and local governance.
Water Access and Sanitation: Providing clean water to over 40,000 individuals and improved sanitation facilities for more than 8,000 people.
Healthcare: Implementing health projects that engage over 150,000 beneficiaries through micro-development initiatives.
Energy: Establishing a 450-kilowatt hydropower plant and facilitating clean energy access for 2,000+ individuals.
Agriculture: setting up irrigation systems, cold storage facilities, and solar greenhouses to benefit smallholder farmers. Training 3,000+ farmers through 165 producer groups, thereby enhancing agricultural output for over 30,000 farmers.
Education and Early Childhood Development: Supporting education and early childhood development programs to improve educational outcomes.
Economic Growth and Entrepreneurship: Training 250+ individuals in entrepreneurship, leveraging $620,000 in support for over 29 enterprises. Creating 300+ savings groups to bolster local economies.
Local Governance: Strengthening governance structures and improving the performance of local governments in delivering social services. Establishment of a 450-kilowatt hydropower plant. Implementation of irrigation systems and the creation of cold storage facilities and solar greenhouses.
Over 300 savings groups formed. More than 150,000 beneficiaries are engaged in micro-development and health projects. Access to clean water for over 40,000 individuals and improved sanitation for over 8,000 individuals. Clean energy access for 2,000+ individuals.
